DermAfricans was born out of my personal experiences as a medical doctor working in the General Patient Clinic. Day after day, I encountered patients with skin conditions that were difficult to diagnose or manage due to a lack of resources, time, and specialized training in dermatology tailored to darker skin tones.
Many times, I found myself spending hours researching, only to find that most available resources didn’t reflect the nuances of black skin or the realities of practicing in low-resource settings. This gap left me frustrated and concerned, knowing that delayed or inadequate care could significantly impact my patients' quality of life.
I created DermAfricans to ensure others—whether medical professionals or individuals seeking knowledge—don’t face the same struggles. This platform is designed to provide accessible, expert-curated, and practical information that makes diagnosing and managing skin conditions easier, especially in resource-limited settings.
DermAfricans is not just a resource; it’s a mission to empower medical practitioners and improve skin health outcomes for underserved populations. Together, we can bridge the gap and build a more inclusive and practical approach to dermatology.
